Travel with me to Maine!
This long weekend will give you a little taste of coastal Maine. We’ll explore small towns, lighthouses, and even hunt for trolls. I hope that you will leave not only wanting to explore more of Maine, but with a list of new travel besties that you will be able to explore with!
Join me for a beautiful Autumn weekend in Maine!
Welcome to Maine!
You will fly into Portland jetport (PWM) and grab your bag. The hotel has airport shuttles available; you will be provided with the info for the hotel shuttle before your trip. Once you get to the hotel, you will be greeted by Alyssa who will get you an itinerary of our weekend.
You will have time to explore the beautiful Old Port of Portland until the evening where you will be provided with a round of welcome drinks to kick off a fun weekend in Maine and meet the rest of the group!
Portland Head Lighthouse & Boothbay
Are you ready for your first day in Maine? We will be leaving Portland today, but not before making a donut stop to a staple - Holy Donuts. They make their donuts from potatoes … yes, potatoes! Once we are all fueled up we will check out of our first hotel and make our way to Boothbay, Maine. We will also visit the first of three lighthouses on our trip, because what would a coastal Maine trip be without some lighthouses?
Once in Boothbay, we will check into our hotel and then have the evening free to explore Boothbay.
Maine Botanical Gardens
Have you ever been on a troll hunt? Now’s your chance. We will wake up slow in Boothbay and grab some coffee from a local cafe to sip along the water. Then we will make our way over to Maine’s Botanical Gardens where you will be able to hunt trolls, build fairy houses, and maybe even catch a glimpse of a little foliage*.
After we have gotten photos with each troll we could find, we’ll make our way back to Boothbay where we enjoy some free time before getting dressed up for a nice group dinner.
‘Forest Gump’ Lighthouse & Rockland
Run Forest, Run … or maybe we’ll drive to the lighthouse that Forest ran to in Forest Gump. We will wake up, grab some coffee to go and make our way to Rockland via a stop at Marshall Point Lighthouse - better known as ‘Forest Gump’ lighthouse as it was shown in Forest Gump as the Lighthouse Forest ran to (and then he turned around and kept running).
After Marshall Point, we will continue to Rockland, Maine - the last stop on our trip. Here we will have some free time to meander around Rockland downtown or walk out to Breakwater Lighthouse.
Goodbye Maine!
It is time to say goodbye to Maine as our coastal weekend comes to end. We will grab a quick bite to go and make our way back to Portland where you will be dropped off at the airport (PWM).
