I didn’t start drinking coffee until my late 20’s. There may have been a guy involved in turning me onto coffee, but that is a completely different story. For this story: I had lived / studied in Dublin, volunteered for many years in Dublin, and it wasn’t until I was in my 30’s that I went to my first coffee shop in Dublin.
Trust me, I am well aware of all that I missed out on.
And I don’t want you to miss out on one of the many coffee places you may find in between Dublin and Galway, so here is a list of some of my favorites so far … as a girl, I do reserve the right to always change my mind. 😉
> Queen of Tarts
Ok … so this is more a bakery than a coffee shop, so right off the bat you may distrust this list – but let me just tell you that Queen of Tarts for an afternoon cup of coffee and something sweet will make you forgive me.
> Beanhive
Beanhive is right by St. Stephen’s green, has good coffee, and delicious baked goods. But, beyond that, the latte art is just delightful and will bring a smile to your face.
> Two Pups
First, Two Pups has ICED Mocha on the menu. That’s a rarity, truly. But also, mimosas and a delicious brunch menu – enough said; you need to visit.
> The Hot Donut
Obviously, you don’t just come here for the coffee. The donuts may have a thing or two to bring people in.
> Copper & Straw
Copper & Straw is so nice, there are a couple of them around Dublin for you. They also have iced coffee … can you tell that I am an iced coffee girl?
> Coffeewerk & Press
Coffeewerk & Press has the vibes down. It may be one of my favorites in Ireland … yeah, I said it.
Grab your cup of coffee and then check out their small gallery and shop while listening to relaxing music. Or, you can sit out on Quay Street for a perfect people watching spot.
> Grind Coffee
Rise & GRIND. Yeah, it is clear that they went there – I didn’t even have to.
> Little Lane Coffee Co
Not to be confused with The Lane Cafe, Little Lane Coffee Co is the pLANE choice when it comes to which coffee shop to go to.
Okay, I admit – that was not a brew-tiful pun. But, Little Lane Coffee Co should not suffer for it. Definitely put it on your list to check out.
Alright, I am done now .. as soon as I started breaking out the puns, we knew it would just go downhill. So we will stop the puns – and this is also the end of the list.
At least for now.
Like I said, I have the right as a girl to change my mind and adjust this list as I return to Ireland and find new places.
